Introduction

Welcome back to My Indian News. This blog is gonna be very special as we have a Guest, Mr. Naman Meena, who runs Gimmethatedit. Gimmethatedit has produced some top-of-the-level edits. He has provided me with many tips, on how to make popular and eye-catching content.

He beautifully makes/edits videos, and I think everyone can relate to how hard it is to make and edit videos. I would really appreciate it if you follow him on Instagram, so here, please follow him on Instagram. It only has been like 9 months and he already has 21K Followers and has an average of 80K on his reels.

He has an average of 80K views and that’s huge and I assure you it’s not easy. Now, further, a due let’s start. Here are the tips provided by him.

Q1 — What are the key factors to making popular content?

First, you make popular content, and then you make your content popular.”

I think the popularity of any content depends upon three key factors which you can control and one factor which you cannot. The three factors which are in any content creator’s hands are its quality, both in its visual and aesthetic sense; finding a sweet balance between what’s mainstream but also good, and most importantly, taking that ‘mainstream’ raw material (movies and tv shows in case of editors like me) and making something uniquely beautiful out of it.

I’ll briefly explain why these factors are so important. With everything becoming ultra-high-definition — from the screens we look at every day to the phone cameras we use to take pictures daily, posting a pixelated video or a picture is the biggest letdown and instantly turns the viewer away from your content. One should always focus on creating content in the highest resolution possible Secondly, you should be able to differentiate between what’s good and popular and what’s ‘only’ popular. It is essential to always choose what’s good. In the long run, all that matters is the reputation of your content and recommendations in the eyes of your audience.

Lastly, the flip-side of choosing mainstream raw material is that too much content is already made out of it, so it becomes necessary for you to create something that makes your content stand out from the already existing content pool. One factor which you cannot control is your audience. Some days you’ll create something they love and other days you might fail to match up to their expectations. But the key is to learn from both good and bad days and to keep creating what you ought to create.

Q2 — What all problems did you face (i.e. less no. of likes and shares)

The biggest problem I’ve faced and continue to face is consistency. Though I can say I’ve maintained consistency in my editing quality, at times I fall short to uphold the frequency. Due to Instagram’s ever-changing algorithm, it becomes so important to keep posting frequently or your content gets pushed below and generally speaking. It is disheartening for content creators all around who devote so much time and skill to their art and don’t get enough appreciation or exposure and that’s where a lot of people tend to quit. Another general problem I’ve noticed is that creators tend to compromise quality just to keep their profiles updated due to Instagram’s algorithm. This has resulted in the production of such bad-quality content floating all over Instagram.

Personally, I never had to struggle for the reach, likes, or shares and a lot of it owes to the fact that I absolutely love editing and even before I began this page, I used to make all kinds of edits just to keep them for myself. So I can confidently say I was never concerned with the statistics, whatever amount of likes and shares I got, they were just the icing on the cake. All I knew was that I was just creating edits which pleased my heart and somehow it reached the spaces where it began to please my audience too.

Q3 — Your personal experience. (How long did it take, what all you did to make your profile popular, any tips from your side)

Honestly, creating an editing page when ‘Main Tera edits’ were trending all over Instagram was my least original idea ever. But I started GimmeThatEdit in October 2020 with the sole purpose of bringing the intricate quality and aestheticism of film editing to these daily ‘Insta-edits’. Though I post on Instagram, I never refer to myself as an ‘Insta-editor’ because my main focus has always been the beauty of what I deliver and never to beat the algorithm by following the trends to get viral (though Instagram reels and using trendy sounds is a pretty good way of making your profile popular). Since I had a film editing background, the purpose was to bring something new to the editing community away from the blindly followed trends and overly distorted tracks which I was never a fan of.

I’ve always believed in quality over quantity so I compromised consistency at times to put edits that were unique in their sound selection and the idea. I guess I’ve accomplished (and still accomplishing) what I aimed for and my audience helped me at every step of the way to accomplish it so quickly. Moreover, all the tips about quality, uniqueness, and consistency of work which I mentioned before were my mantras but making any profile popular becomes the audience’s decision and they’ll definitely do it if they see what they love, and if they love what they see. Since no one is ever happy by their numbers, the aim should be to choose and do what you love, regardless of the numbers. Do it for your happiness, for the happiness of people who smile while watching your content, be it a single person or a hundred people. Please NEVER QUIT!

This is was he said about his journey on Instagram as an editor. I hope his tips will help you

Conclusion

Overall, he has emphasized several things such as quality over quantity, consistency, highest resolution possible.

I really think Mr. Naman’s tips are really gone, help people.
